Gimont deviation completed in 2022
In 2022, it is, in fact, a new road development of the RN 124 which will allow motorists to save a little time.
After the Isle-Jourdain deviations in 2000, Aubiet in 2003 and Léguevin in 2009, the Gimont deviation must be completed in 2022 according to the announced schedule.
This new bypass of 9.6 kilometers in 2X2 lanes must be completed after 7 years of work. It will avoid the village of Gimont, which can be complicated to cross, especially during the summer season.
Place in Gimont-L’Isle-Jourdain
This is only one step. The objective is to connect the prefecture of Gers to Toulouse in 2X2 lanes by 2027.
To do this, it remains to carry out the upgrading of 2X2 lanes of the Gimont-L’Isle-Jourdain section.
“This project consists of upgrading the RN124 to 2 × 2 lanes, with expressway status, over a length of 13 kilometers in total including 12 km on a new route and 1 km widening at the connection to the Isle Jourdain, parallel to the route of the RN 124, which will eventually be downgraded and will serve as an alternative route. The operation includes the development of two complete uneven exchangers, namely the Lafourcade interchange at the western end in Gimont and the Choulon interchange to the east of the section, and does not include any engineering structure. non-current, ”recalls the State.
142 million euros
The work on this section must be carried out as a continuation of the work on the Gimont deviation.
The cost of the project is estimated at 142 million euros 45% financed by the State, 32% by the Occitanie Region and 23% by the Department of Gers.
