Toulouse: these two dancers run on the walls of the Donjon du Capitole
Look up towards the dungeon of the Capitol and you will see, until December 18, two acrobatic dancers running on the facade. They are Violaine and Séverine.
As part of the Christmas festivities, Violaine Garros and Séverine Bennevault-Caton run on the walls of the keep of the Capitol, in Toulouse, as part of a purely enchanting spectacle. Their performance takes place until December 18, every Friday and Saturday, between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
During 12 minutes, the dancers of the company 9.81 engage in acrobatic journeys, at the rate of three passages per evening, accompanied by the melodies of the pianist Marie-Laure Dupont and the voice of the lyric singer Morgane Bertrand.
“We are attached to rubber bands that allow us to move up and down on the facade of the dungeon and to play with the architecture of the building,” explains dancer Violaine Garros.
Wrapped up in thick white costumes, “to take in the light”, Violaine and Séverine leap from the keep, 15 meters high. “For us, it’s pretty daily. We are used to being around these heights. But it still requires very great attention, ”adds the dancer.
The acrobats deliver a precise choreography as poetic as it is unexpected, which allows the public to escape for a moment. “We like to catch the people who are in the streets of Toulouse, doing their Christmas market. Our show often leaves them with unforgettable memories because they did not expect it. It’s great to see all those eyes that sparkle at the end of the show, ”concludes Violaine.
