Matilde Pinto wins second medal for Portugal in table tennis

On Sunday, the singles competition begins, with seven Portuguese table tennis players in the competition.
The Portuguese Matilde Pinto, in female pairs, won this Saturday her second medal at the World Youth Championship in Table Tennis for Portugal, taking place in Vila Nova de Gaia.
In the quarter-finals, the Portuguese, along with Welsh Anna Hursey, defeated, by 3-1, her compatriot Mariana Santa Comba, who partnered with the Australian Constantina Psihogios, thus guaranteeing the second Portuguese medal in the competition and Thursday ever.
In the semi-finals, scheduled for Monday, Matilde Pinto and Anna Hursey will discuss a place in the final, against German duo Mia Griesel / Annet Kaufmann.
On Friday, the Portuguese under-15 table tennis team lost to Russia, in the semi-finals, after having already secured an unprecedented collective medal.
Bernardo Pinto, Rafael Silva and Tiago Abiodun, who on Thursday had secured the podium – after beating the Czechs (3-1) -, lost the semi-final match 3-0, against the “trio” Russian, formed by Alelsei Samokhin, Ilia Koniukhov and Roman Vinogradov.
