Geneva major event Escalade is canceled again due to the corona crisis
This year’s Escalade in Geneva has also been canceled due to the Corona crisis. The festival should have taken place from December 10th to 12th.
The reasons for the cancellation are the death of the general health situation because of Covid-19 and the corresponding recommendations of the authorities.
The organizers of the historic commemoration announced on Saturday that the decision to postpone was unanimous. The Escalade commemorates the city’s successful defense against the Duke of Savoy’s troops in 1602.
After the festival had to be canceled last year due to the Covid 19 pandemic, it should actually have taken place this December. Everything was prepared in a form that was adapted to the conditional ones. The most recent measures decided would have changed the situation, the organizers stated.
For the moves with 350 participants on Friday evening and the 800 participants on Sunday, the organizers believe that the control measures would have been too time-consuming. The space available in the various countries in the narrow streets of the old town posed a great risk for the spread of the virus, which cannot be controlled, write the organizers.
