Toulouse. “What is this shit?” : an offbeat exhibition settles on the banks of the Garonne
Through Gabriel Kenedi

Here is an exhibition for the less quirky to see on the quays of the Garonne, along the promenade Henri-Martin, between Saint Pierre and The sea bream, In Toulouse.
Lethargic art!
This exhibition is signed Ouch, a young artist from Toulouse specializing in “Lethargic art”, as he says himself.
The principle is simple: handwritten black phrases set out on a white background, with messages full of self-mockery that inevitably catch the eye.
Small anthology: “What is this shit? “; “People really post anything”; “He could at least have drawn a picture”; “Is that street art?” “,” Weird the concept “or” And it says artist “… These are the kind of messages that passers-by strolling along the Garonne can admire on the facades of the quays.
Is there any meaning in all of this?
Some will laugh heartily, others may believe in a big joke, still others will even shout at the deception. And this is undoubtedly the goal sought by the artist himself.
Through this funny exhibition, Aïe (who began with comics before exploring the mysteries of lethargic art) intends to highlight “A questioning of the artist himself, a provocative self-criticism ”. And yet, according to the author – who we understand, does not really take himself seriously – these sentences “propose the same limits of art by verbalizing the probable reflections that passers-by might have ”.
“The meaning of this series of works is the very absence of meaning, which can create confusion for those who discover them in spite of themselves, ”continues Ouch, who had already exhibited his thirty works in the same place, in October 2021.
This exhibition, which will make you react, can be seen until December 30, 2021, in Toulouse.
