Toulouse: the anti-ZFE are not disarming
Motorcyclists and motorists who oppose the application of a low-emission zone in Toulouse ask for exemptions and wish to be received by elected officials of the Metropolis.
Opponents of the upcoming application of a Low Emission Zone (ZFE) in Toulouse, who raised the issue on November 6 on the ring road, are not disarming. Update with Florent Capoulade, spokesperson for Interclub ZFE 31 which brings together several associations.
Do you dispute the position of the Metropolis which asserts that the derogations are not relevant to it?
Yes. The Metropolises are responsible for the implementation of the ZFE. And everything we ask for has already been granted elsewhere. We would like to discuss it face to face with elected officials.
What are your demands?
The first is an exemption for motorcycles. They make traffic and pollution more fluid. We also have an exemption for used vehicles because they do not run much. As well as timetables (after 7 p.m. and on weekends) which will allow those who cannot afford to change cars to get around. The Metropolis could contribute more financially to the purchase of a clean vehicle because the aid is not sufficient for someone who earns the minimum wage. We that the western part of the ring road is not included. Finally, Toulouse could propose the introduction of leisure use which allows vehicles to travel outside of home-work journeys.
But what to do about pollution?
We are in favor of a transition to cleaner vehicles. But it is the brutal side that we reject. The people are not going to join. There are other avenues: motorcycles that make things smoother, teleworking… Motorists are too easily hit.
