Toulouse: who wants Christmas decorations?
The installation of the Goudouli fountain, Place Wilson, has already been degraded twice.
But who is against the Christmas decorations in Toulouse and in particular those of the Goudouli fountain, in the center of Square Wilson, new for Christmas 2021? This creation of the municipal lighting service, made up of arches and fir trees decorated in red and or, installed a week ago, has suffered damage. Two if we believe Jean-Baptiste de Scorraille, deputy mayor of Toulouse, in charge of public lighting. A tree was broken last week, then three more in recent days.
Anti-vaccines?
The deputy mayor wants to believe that these are “isolated acts” even if anti-vaccine stickers were found on the spot. But the annoyance is there: “These gestures harm Toulouse residents and the holiday spirit. And it is the people of Toulouse who pay the bill. “This figure, according to him, to date, at 7,000 € for the fountain. And damage was also observed on other trees (at the corner of rue Alsace and boulevards and at the bottom of avenue Jean-Rieux) but, according to Jean-Baptiste de Scorraille, in smaller proportions than in previous years.
A complaint was filed by the town hall. The municipal police patrol in the city center, underlines the elected official who also recalls the existence of CCTV cameras.
This year, the town hall invested in recyclable decorations which, over the years and the renewal of the park, will gain ground. The Blachère company thus offers equipment made from sugar cane. Place Wilson, a sign now warns that the decorations have been vandalized and that the repair of an additional expense ”has been estimated at“ € 3,000 ”.
