Munich (dpa / lby) – The extreme athlete Jonas Deichmann will return to Munich today after his 14-month triathlon around the world. After 120 Ironman triathlons, his journey ends where it began more than a year ago: on Munich’s Odeonsplatz.
On his trip, the 34-year-old swam 54 days along the Adriatic coast, ran through Siberia at minus 20 degrees and ran around 5000 kilometers straight through the heat of Mexico. During his circumnavigation of the world, he is less about the records and more about the experiences, he described his motivation.
After his arrival, the competitive athlete first needs to relax. The native of Stuttgart says he is particularly looking forward to seeing his friends and family and eating Maultaschen and Käsespätzle again. The next big challenge is already planned for 2023 – but Deichmann is not yet revealing any details.
