Carbon monoxide poisoning in Merville, near Toulouse: two people hospitalized
Two people residing in Merville, north of Toulouse, were poisoned with carbon monoxide overnight from Saturday to Sunday. One of them is hospitalized in a state of absolute emergency.
This is a new episode in the black series of poisoning that began in November, when the cooler temperatures arrived.
Two people were poisoned with carbon monoxide, in the night from Saturday to Sunday, we learned this morning from the firefighters of the departmental fire and rescue service (SDIS) of Haute-Garonne.
The two residents of the town of Merville, north of Toulouse, had to be reduced to the nearest hospital center. One of them is hospitalized in a state of absolute emergency.
Like every winter, firefighters warn about the dangers of chimney fires, when they are not properly maintained. In Haute-Garonne alone, firefighters intervene up to 300 times in some years to control fires that have resulted in a fire in a pipe.
Even used occasionally, a chimney must be swept by a professional, remind the firefighters. In mid-November, the SDIS (departmental fire and rescue service) of Ariège had even sounded the alarm, after having carried out about twenty interventions of this type in just fifteen days.
