TOULOUSE

Thanks to Ramos, Toulouse hardly beat Brive

Sugar Mizzy November 27, 2021

Toulouse can thank Thomas Ramos! While Ugo Mola had to compose without many of his internationals, income injured or simply badly at rest, the leader of the Top 14 was in great difficulty by a voluntary team from Brive. Enzo Hervé set the tone from the 3rd minute. While the defense of the Rouge-et-Noir was at fault, the striker of the Barbarians during the international break opened the scoring very early in this meeting. The Toulousains tried to send the game but they came up against a Corrèze defense which responded present but which could not avoid some slag. At the quarter of an hour of play, Thomas Ramos converted one of them to allow the champions of France in title to return to height. However, on the dismissal, the players of Ugo Mola once again missed the fault and Enzo Hervé did not miss the opportunity to give the advantage back to the CAB. Shortly before the half-hour mark, the Stade Ernest-Wallon public stood up as one man when Lucas Tauzin flattened into a corner on an action initiated by a gain of ground from Sofiane Guitoune then relays from Thomas Ramos and Arthur Bonneval. But the video was ruthless because, just before flattening, the Toulouse winger has his knee on the sideline. Finally, the first try of this meeting was… Brivist!

Toulouse long foiled

Six minutes from halftime, Joris Jurand has significantly cooled the atmosphere. After a maul, Enzo Hervé was able to extend his pass to his winger who did not hesitate to flatten in a corner on the left wing to score the last points for his team in this meeting. An eight-point gap that could have been reduced at the break if Thomas Ramos had not failed 40 meters from the poles, touching wood on this last attempt of the first act. A half during which Ugo Mola appeared clearly angry by his team and the tone changed from the start of the second period. The Toulousains increased the pressure but, faced with the Brivist faults, preferred to go in touch to seek the test rather than securing the points. Finally, six minutes after the restart, Thomas Ramos reduced the gap to five lengths before seeing his teammates fail against a defense of Brive solidarity on a penalty five meters played by hand. The Stade Toulousain striker did not tremble at the hour mark to bring his team to two lengths before an air gap from Brive. First of all, for a multiplication of faults, Tevita Ratuva found the sidelines for ten minutes. The opportunity was too good for Thomas Ramos to allow Toulouse to go ahead for the first time in the match.

Brive dropped a point

Then, thirteen minutes from the siren, Enzo Hervé prematurely found the locker room of the Stade Ernest-Wallon. Trying to kick a ball, the CAB opening touched Baptiste Germain’s head. If there was no intention to make such a gesture, the referee could not help but apply the rules and therefore issue the red card against the Corrèze striker. A double numerical inferiority which Toulouse was unable to take advantage of. Five minutes from the end of the match, Thomas Ramos gave his team a little more air with his fifth success at the foot. The Brivists then clung to the point of defensive bonus … until a ground fault by Axel Muller who offered a final penalty to Toulouse. While Ugo Mola, to avoid any unpleasant surprises, asked his players to send the ball into touch and end the match, Thomas Ramos wanted to conclude with a final success. The Toulouse striker once again found the target and deprived the CAB of the defensive bonus point at the last second. With this victory (18-11) before the trip of Bordeaux-Bègles on the lawn of Racing 92 this Sunday, Toulouse takes seven points ahead of its runner-up. Brive, beaten for the fifth time in six matches, remains three points behind Biarritz and the red zone.
