Slovenian Christmas markets are open under COVID restrictions
STA, November 27, 2021 – The government has adopted some changes to Covid’s restrictions, including more detailed rules for outdoor Christmas fairs that will need to be fenced off with separate entrances and exits.
The amended ordinance, passed by the government late Friday, also stipulates that food and drink can be served at outdoor stalls if the maximum number of customers allowed on the premises at the same time is clearly marked at the entrance.
The other provisions in this section of the Regulation remain unchanged, which means that the existing restrictions on the number of clients and their obligation to comply with the convalescent vaccine test (PCT) rule still apply.
The changes come after Christmas fairs have already opened in some cities, including Ljubljana and Maribor. While the area around the fair in Maribor is already fenced, Ljubljana will have to follow suit, and the new measure is valid from today.
Meanwhile, the PCT rule will no longer be necessary for customers receiving mail and parcel delivery, except at post offices. Couriers and postal carriers will still have to meet the PCT requirement.
Other changes relate to self-testing of school children and students, including one that says the test counts as compliance with the PCT rule in the collective exercise of religious freedom.
Music school was added to extracurricular activities.
Self-testing at home is also introduced for children who are placed in educational institutions due to inadequate conditions in the home environment.
The right to free screening with rapid antigen tests is limited to persons with temporary or permanent residence in Slovenia, employees of employers based in Slovenia and diplomatic representatives in the country.
