Toulouse. Activity reduced at the maternity ward of Ducuing hospital due to the midwifery strike
The midwives’ strike movement continues in Haute-Garonne. This weekend, it is the turn of the maternity ward of the Joseph Ducuing hospital to be impacted. Activity will be reduced, pregnant women are invited to call before traveling.
After several private clinics in Haute-Garonne, it is the turn of the midwives of the maternity ward of the Joseph Ducuing hospital (private non-profit sector) to enter a “black weekend”. For many weeks, midwives have been mobilizing at the national level to demand an increase in their salaries in line with their status, their training and their skills.
Despite the assignments, the Joseph Ducuing hospital is forced to reduce its activity from this Friday, November 26, 7 p.m., and until Monday morning.
Call before traveling
Hospital management indicates that “the ARS (Occitanie Regional Health Agency), the SAMU and the surrounding establishments have been informed so that everything can be organized to guarantee the continuity and safety of care. We encourage patients to notify the maternity ward by phone on 05 61 77 34 87 before moving in order to be informed or referred to another obstetrics unit if the maximum capacity of the reception was reached. The establishment is doing everything to restore the situation as quickly as possible ”.
The maternity ward of the Joseph Ducuing hospital carries out an average of 2,400 deliveries per year, which places it among the most important establishments in this specialty in Toulouse.
At the beginning of November, the midwifery movement led the Toulouse Rive Gauche and Croix du Sud clinics to close their maternity hospitals during the same week.
