Multi-talented artist of Swiss origin, Marthe Keller presides over the 29 edition of the Russian Film Festival in Honfleur (Calvados). The actress gave her impressions of the festival and the city of Honfleur.
News: You have had the experience of being part of a jury, what reasons have you already pushed to accept the presidency of the festival jury?
Marthe Keller: Yes, I was three times sworn in Cannes and also in Geneva for Russian cinema. What decided me, it is the word “Russian”, I love the films of this cinema! And then there was Honfleur …
You came to Honfleur a long time ago (in 1972 for the filming of La Demoiselle d’Avignon), have you been able to return there since?
MK: This is my first time going back, and I’m so glad to be here, love this place! And I know myself, as soon as I love, I go to a real estate agency… Here people are so nice and polite, everything is beautiful, clean, I feel at home in Switzerland!
You have a lot of strings to your bow, television, theater, film actress, with a career in the United States, as an opera director, what have you preferred to do in your entire career?
MK: Actress, maybe. But I liked so much about this job. I’ve never had a career problem, things just happen naturally. There have been good and bad things, it is the shadow and the light of life …
What is your current artistic news?
MK: Since August I have been shooting a film in Portugal, with Blanche Gardin, and I have a lot of projects in progress. In fact, I work more than in my youth!
