State wants CoV tests for kindergartens
Coronavirus
The State of Salzburg will carry out nationwide coronavirus tests for kindergarten children. Most recently, so-called PCR lollipop tests were issued in kindergartens. However, only about 20 percent of parents wanted to have their children tested. Now there should be antigen lollipop tests.
After around 20,000 evaluated tests in October, the test program in the kindergartens came to an end – due to the low level of interest and also because the federal government made more test kits available. Recently, however, there had been calls for kindergarten children to be tested again across the board. Above all, kindergarten teachers are pushing for it: In the middle of the current Corona wave, too many parents would send their offspring to kindergartens even though they were not dependent on care, according to the criticism.
CoV tests are still not binding
Andrea Klambauer (NEOS): “If children are not tested, there are no legal consequences. We also discussed this and said that it is especially important and necessary for children not to be socially excluded just because their parents do not want to test them. “
The high numbers of infections are also a problem in kindergartens, adds Klambauer. However, the main focus is on consistent secretions and the EU-approved child vaccinations for over-five-year-olds are now dying. As of next Wednesday, tests will be carried out again – with antigen lollipop tests instead of the previous PCR tests.
