International Children’s Rights Day – Pages Monaco
Each year, the Principality celebrates the International Convention on the Rights of the Child adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on November 20, 1989. By signing this International Convention, the United Nations has recognized the need to protect all children of the world and to guarantee their fundamental rights, wherever they are threatened.
With the help of school heads and teachers, the Directorate of National Education, Youth and Sports (DENJS) coordinates in schools, during the months of October and November, an awareness campaign on the theme of the Rights of the Child. A presentation of actions in favor of children in the field by the 9 partner humanitarian associations is made to all CM2 classes (Public and Private under contract).
On Monday, November 29, the DENJS will present, at 6 pm, in the Salle des Princes of the Grimaldi Forum, Pascal Plisson’s latest film “Gogo”, in the presence of the director, the heroine and his great-granddaughter. , in order to raise public awareness of inequalities in access to education for children around the world.
Sovereign Prince Albert II and HRH Princess Caroline of Hanover will honor with Their Presence this evening of mobilization in favor of children whose rights are violated. The film traces the incredible story of this exceptional woman, who at the age of 90 decided to enter the school of her Kenyan village to set an example, fight against the forced marriages that are rife in her country, and open up the way to all girls to whom access to education has been denied for a very long time.
The funds collected on the occasion of this Solidarity Day that the many actions of solidarity with the students of Monaco within schools will help to continue the essential interventions of the DENJS so that students from here and elsewhere contribute to grow and learn under favorable conditions.
