Due to the covid, the rules for Christmas markets in Prague tighten
The Christmas markets with the annual lighting of the Christmas tree in Prague are becoming more complicated again. This is due to the rapid spread of coronavirus infection. Therefore, the original cultural program on the Old Town Square will not be in the end.
Traditional Christmas markets will have to do without culture this year. Due to the deteriorating situation, the market operator has drastically reduced the program, the mandatory wearing of veils and also the mandatory distance between the stands. The management of Prague is not yet preparing for the complete closure of the markets.
“We are sorry to announce that the festive lighting of the Christmas tree in the Old Town Square, scheduled for November 27, will not take place due to the deteriorating epidemiological situation. Advent is primarily awaiting birth. your Twitter by Prague City Tourism.
But people will not lose the tree in the square, it has been standing there since Tuesday morning. However, its ceremonial lighting this year, as last year, will not be due to a pandemic.
Prague has thus joined other European and Czech cities in reducing Advent events. In addition, the market operator pointed out, “In the market area, you will only buy refreshments according to the current regulations for visitors who can prove a valid vaccination or suffer from covid-19.”
