Athens: In Dimand Real Estate Development the building of the historic “MINION”
The company Dimand Real Estate Development claims that it has been announced as a potential buyer for the property that housed for decades the historic MINION department store, in the area of Omonia Square.
The acquisition of “Minion” is part of the long-term strategy of the company, to reconstruct buildings of historical importance, contributing to the modern history of the city and upgrading entire neighborhoods, respecting the environment and their characteristics. In recent years, Dimand has been investing in the repetition of buildings in central areas of Athens and Piraeus, contributing to the rebirth and economic reactivation of the local market.
The strategy of repetition of buildings is also part of the wider environmental design of the company, as it fails to significantly reduce the environmental footprint due to the evacuation of the use of materials (iron, concrete) whose production has a high burden on emprint (embodied carbon foot).
According to the diagram, the project will be completed in three years and the building that has mixed use, as it includes offices, shops and places of hospitality. More information on the character of the building will be announced after the completion of the relevant studies.
The company practically believes, supports and invests in the promotion of the historic center of Athens through its upgrade. It is reminded that the conversion of Saroglio Megaron at 65 Stadiou Street on Omonia Square, to the first Moxy Hotel (member of the Marriott chain) in Athens, in collaboration with Prodea Investments, is in the process of completion. The simultaneous development of an emblematic building on the opposite side of Omonia Square, is estimated to give a strong impetus to the emergence of the wider area.
In the coming days, the company will proceed with all the necessary actions to complete the transaction, in cooperation with its institutional investors.
The president and CEO of Dimand, Dimitris Andriopoulos, said: “Faithful to our vision to develop emblematic buildings, we are moving towards the acquisition of the legendary building that was once the favorite destination for most Athenians and people from all over Greece. With respect to its history and the memories it brings, let us proceed to a large investment that will simultaneously mark the development of a burdened area and will be the strongest motivation for Omonia to regain its lost glory. We are creating another modern, standard bioclimatic building for picturesque and commercial countries that will meet the above environmental goals and the modern needs of society “.
