Despite his DNA on the crime knife: Defendant denies involvement in robbery in Salzburg
Romanians (39) are charged with attempted grave robbery at the Salzburg Regional Court. The process that started on Tuesday will continue on December 23.
Because he is said to have tried to rob two men in an apartment in the city of Salzburg, disguised with an unknown accomplice on December 20, 2018, under the guise of firearms and carrying a jackknife, a Romanian (39) was on trial on Tuesday. While the apartment lady was fixed on the floor by a perpetrator, his friend defended himself massively against the second perpetrator and was injured with the said jackknife, which was ultimately left in the apartment. The perpetrators fled without prey.
Prosecutor Sandra Lemmermayer was in the process (chaired by judge Anna-Sophia Geisselhofer): The defendant, who has a number of relatively long criminal records, “is one of the robbers. DNA traces were found on the knife that are definitely from him.”
The Romanian (defender: RA Franz Essl) asserted that he was not in Salzburg at the time of the crime, but with his birth mother in Upper Austria. And that the Romanian’s DNA can be found on the jackknife, similar to lawyer Essl: “My client’s father and stepmother have been living in an apartment very close to the crime scene for a long time – the defendant used to live there too and could return a number of items there, such as his fishing gear, Dishes or several knives, including the said jackknife. Sometime towards the end of 2018, the stepmother disposed of these things and placed them next to a garbage can; the process was postponed until December 23rd.
