The FIA has selected four Luxembourg drivers for the next stage of its detection program, including the corn of the next former Sébastien Loeb, in the world rally championship.
About thirty budding drivers answered the call of the FIA and the ACL, during the three days of the International Motor Show, at LuxExpo. They are Bob Shanen (best time 4: 38.389), Nik Schiffmann (4: 39.256), Bob Hilger (4: 43.460) and Aida Martins, ranked 24th overall but best Luxembourgish female driver in the challenge (6: 23.631) . One woman did better, but she is German: Chantal Linden (5: 48.167), who has nevertheless been invited to participate in the next stage of this 5-year program. This continental final will take place next January, in Germany, in real engines this time, cross-cars.
The winners of each continental final will bring together the “FIA Rally Star” team for a training season that will begin in 2023. The best will compete in two seasons in the WRC Junior category, in 2024 and 2025, at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta of the M-Sport team. Whoever will manage to win the title, will finally be able to participate in the 2026 season in WRC2, the “second division” of the world championships, the premier category being of course, the WRC where the leaders of the discipline compete. .
