EvereAn 11-year-old girl has died after CO poisoning in Evere. Yesterday she was sent to the hospital with four family members, where she died. “The other families also have to be taken care of. The installations of all apartments are sealed,” said the prosecutor’s office.
At around 7:10 p.m. Friday evening, an MUG and a 112 ambulance of the Brussels fire brigade turned out to the Francois Van Cutsemstraat in Evere. “Once our team entered the building, the CO alarm went off immediately,” says Walter Derieuw of the Brussels Fire Brigade.
An entire family of five showed signs of CO poisoning. The parents and their children aged 3, 4 and 11 were born to the hospital. “The eldest 11-year-old girl was very bad about it,” says Derieuw. “She has since passed away”, Willemien Baert of the Brussels public prosecutor to our editors. “There will be an investigation into those installations. We do not assume malicious intent, everything on a tragic accident.”
“And those are accidents that can become possible”, Derieuw hammers. Every autumn and winter there are ten consequences of CO poisoning. The fire brigade gives a list of tips every time we start burning: properly maintained water heating installations, supplying sufficient fresh air, sufficient ventilation and good removal of combustion substances again absolutely necessary. Carbon monoxide is a colorless and odorless gas that is formed when an incomplete .
Here too, the small bathroom was insufficiently ventilated. The guest counter and the installation are sealed. “The Sibelga employee also did the same in the other apartments, since those installations were in the same condition. The families involved are being taken care of by the police and municipal services.”
