The “Montagne en Scène” film festival is back in Belgium
Since 2013, Montagne en Scène has twice presented a selection of the best mountain films, whether skiing, mountaineering, paragliding or climbing. Films that have breathtaking images in common, but whose strength is above all to present extraordinary human adventures. A breath of fresh air that will push you to make your own dreams come true.
” I think that a Montagne en Scène type festival could not have been created by someone coming from Annecy or Chamonix. It needed to be created by someone who came from the city, and who realized that people in cities also love the mountains. »Explains Cyril Salomon, the founder of the festival.
The festival is back in Belgium after a more complicated period. Enough to revive passions and dreams of escape and surpassing oneself. The mountain is undoubtedly a community of enthusiasts. We experience strong emotions, unforgettable adventures that we often share with close people.
“As soon as you go to the mountains, you realize it. When you do a mountain sport, I find that it creates very strong links with the people with whom you do it. This environment is at the same time magnificent but at the same time it is also dangerous, and suddenly strongly, when one evolves in this environment, in terms of human adventures which are lived and of memories which that leaves us, c ‘is incomparable, there is nothing else that comes close to it. There is a very big mountain culture, whether in Paris or in Belgium, with a lot of great mountaineers who came from the cities. ” says Cyril.
A selection of the best mountain films in the world
For this edition, we once again find exceptional films from different horizons on the program.
first, “ The List: All or Nothing »With Jérémie Heitz and Sam Anthamatten. This new project consists of skiing in the same way at 6000m, on the sublime mountains of Peru and Pakistan, as on slopes in the resort. A sumptuous journey but not without risks. Thrills guaranteed!
Then find ” The diamond of the Alps “. To go in search of the most beautiful faces of the Alps, Vivian Bruchez brought out her old bike from the garage, tweaked hooks for her skis and suggested to her two friends Seb Montaz and Mathieu Navillod to join the adventure. A departure from Chamonix to Switzerland. A film that will feed your dreams of exploration!
Third, ” Crossing “. The “Haute Route” between Chamonix and Zermatt is a legendary ski raid which is usually covered in 6 days. Valentine Fabre and Hillary Gerardi will attempt to complete the 107km and 8000m of elevation gain in one go to set the first female record on this route.
At last, ” Strong enough “. A rock climbing film in Mexico. Fernanda Rodriguez, Mexican climber, invites professional climbers to discover her region and the El Salto canyon. She takes the opportunity to try an 8b + route, at the limit of her abilities. A unique performance.
New for this 2021 edition, the election of the Line of the year. This is the new concept at Montagne en Scène. 6 descents were selected from among all the films received, and it is the public who will designate the descent of the year! The 3 winning lines will be announced and screened during the Montagne en Scène tour.
