Swedes maintain visit restrictions due to virus increase
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – When cases of covid-19 and hospital admissions increase throughout Rockford, SwedishAmerican Hospital puts visit restrictions back in place.
From Monday 22 November at At 07.00, visitors who are experiencing respiratory symptoms, such as coughing or shortness of breath, will be rejected.
Limited visitors will be allowed for adult inpatients with Swedes according to these guidelines:
- A decision-maker in healthcare or a support person is allowed for people with disabilities who need a support person.
- A primary support person accompanying a patient to the emergency room or a patient undergoing surgery, including GI surgery.
- Limited number of visitors for patients in the final stages of life.
- Pediatric and NICU patients will continue to be allowed two primary caregivers. Siblings or anyone under the age of 18 are not allowed.
- An adult primary support person for maternity work and maternity care.
- A visitor must accompany an outpatient to a clinic visit.
“Hospital admissions are increasing rapidly, and we are taking steps to protect against exposure and focus on providing quality care to our patients,” says Polizzotto. “Currently, we encourage people to only come to the hospital for care or if you are needed as a primary support person.”
Mask mandate is required of all patients, staff and visitors to Swedes.
