Saturday demonstrations in Toulouse: why put a whole city under cover?
Like every Saturday now, the city center of Toulouse is cordoned off to avoid any overflow, while the demonstrations against the health pass, more peaceful, are mobilizing, however, less and less.
Since the beginning of the insurrection of the yellow vests, three years ago, and now the return of the demonstrations of Saturday with the anti-vax and sanitary pass, the Toulousans got used to it. To prohibit troublemakers from commercial arteries, the prefecture has decided to confine the parades on the boulevards, regularly closed to traffic in a moving perimeter, between Herakles and the Monument to the dead according to the moods of the crowd. Finally, when we say crowd, the notion is very relative if we count the number of candidates concerned who are, it must be said, less and less numerous to cry out their opposition to vaccination and “infringements of freedoms” . And much more peaceful. So much so that the security system of the public force seems a bit disproportionate in view of its impact on traffic and the morale of motorists stuck in traffic. Like the ten CRS cars systematically parked on Place Esquirol as a welcome. A panzer to crush a fly? “I do not understand why we thus put the city under a bell by annoying a maximum of citizens for a handful of protesters”, annoys a father who had to take his illness patiently last Saturday, stuck on the avenue des Minimal. Because the condemnation of the main axes also causes the suffocation of the perpendicular streets, which does not facilitate either, for example, the access to the Matabiau station… At the time of the great rush (commercial) of Christmas, this urban asphyxiation will it not discourage shoppers? Paradoxically, this is one of the concerns of traders, who have suffered greatly from the disorders caused by the demonstrations of yellow vests. So, shouldn’t he take the pressure off?
