Salzburg: Raser wanted to go home quickly – with an illegally tuned car
A civil patrol of the Salzburg traffic police pulled a car speeder from traffic on Thursday afternoon, the car of which had been subjected to a number of prohibited modifications.
The police noticed the car on the Westautobahn in the direction of Vienna near the Salzburg-Messe exit. The driver kept his car too little distance from other road users and was traveling too fast.
The police stopped the car and later stated in their report: “A measurement showed 137 km / h at a permitted 80 km / h.”
A lot came to light: There was a marked downpipe on the car (a connection between the turbocharger and exhaust system), other prohibited changes were made to the exhaust system, to the rims and attachments. In the course of a noise measurement it was found that the car was considerably too loud.
The license plates as well as the registration certificate were removed on the spot due to imminent danger and the onward journey was prohibited. The 20-year-old test driver’s license holder from Salzburg was aware of the modifications to the car and stated that he wanted to go home quickly after work.
