News | Avignon: the group “The Yellbows” releases their new album
At 11 boulevard Raspail, the theater “Le 11.Avignon” is also in the process of becoming, year-round, a concert hall “Current music” (see our edition of September 21): “Le 11”. Before the official launch of the place in a few weeks, this new HQ of sonic good taste, located in front of the Lambert collection, welcomes this Friday evening in showcase one of the most exciting groups from Vaucluse: The Yellbows, composed of four boys with communicative energy, which, via banjo and trombone, in particular, mix, with a hellish pace, the sounds of New Orleans: from dixieland (traditional jazz) to funk through the blues. Edouard Baer was not mistaken, who had chosen the group to color his morning show on Radio Nova.
In addition to this Avignon “live”, at home, which follows around fifty concerts all over the place last summer, The Yellbows will take the opportunity, this November 19, to present their second album (recorded in Gordes), the very successful “Stop your cinema”. Three years after the “Early Morning” solar, Stéphan Notari, Matthieu Maigre, Alexis Borrely and Thibaud Roussel have left to perpetuate a fantasized and dancing America. With, among other things, the mid tempo track “Jamais je ne t’oublierai”, the clip of which was shot at Pub Z.
“On this album, unlike the first, the four of us composed, with songs that we refined during confinement” says Stéphan Notari, initiator of the combo in 2017. “At the same time, we didn’t invent anything, this New Orleans music has been around for a long time. We are above all a stage band. Often, we are told: there are four of you, it looks like ten! seeks to be fun and festive! ” If The Yellbows has for rehearsals a farmhouse in Barbentane, it is at “11” that the quartet has been in residence since the beginning of the week.
“The idea is to work on the interludes, what we tell between the songs, but also the light creation for all our next concerts.” The team called on Benoît Bastide (alias ZoB ‘), whose outside gaze makes it possible to refine the “set”. After Avignon, the tour is looming between now and Christmas, near Bourges, Etampes (Paris region), Dreux and Marseille. New album, new turner (“On the road again”): The Yellbows is ready to make everyone agree.
