Berlin wins top game against weakened Mannheimer – Sport
Berlin (AP) – The Eisbären Berlin have won the top game of the German ice hockey league against the weakened Adler Mannheim.
The defending champion defeated the front runner, who had to compete without seven professionals and without coach Pavel Gross due to the corona, with 3: 1 (0: 0, 3: 1, 0: 0). For the Mannheimers it was the next setback after the 1:10 bankruptcy on Tuesday in the Champions Hockey League against Frölunda HC from Sweden.
After the almost two-week Germany Cup break, the Berliners took the lead in front of 10,198 spectators through Yannick Veilleux (21st minute). After the quick Adler equalization by Markus Eisenschmid (24th), a brilliant individual performance by Frans Nielsen (29th) and a goal by Zachary Boychuk (33rd) ensured the decision in favor of fourth.
With a 4: 2 (1: 1, 0: 0, 3: 1) in the Bayern derby at the Nürnberg Ice Tigers, co-favorite EHC Red Bull Munich remains in second place. Konrad Abeltshauser (15th), Philip Gogulla (41st), Zachary Redmond (52nd) and Yasin Ehliz (55th) scored the guest goals.
With the sixth win from the last seven games, Die Kölner Haie underlined their top form in a 7: 3 (4: 0, 1: 2, 2: 1) against newly promoted Bietigheim Steelers. Schwenningen’s new coach Christof Kreutzer celebrated a perfect debut in a surprising 3: 2 (3: 0, 0: 1, 0: 1) at his former club Düsseldorfer EG.
The Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven documents the ERC Ingolstadt with 0: 1 (0: 0, 0: 0, 0: 1). The Krefeld penguins caused the fifth Roosters defeat in the series at 4: 1 (1: 0, 2: 0, 1: 1) in Iserlohn.
