Beer historian named the only Russian beer: Food: From life: Lenta.ru
The historian of Soviet brewing and beer blogger Pavel Egorov named the only type of Russian beer that anyone can taste today. He expressed his opinion in the material “Lenta.ru” about people restoring old recipes for beer.
Egorov said that since the time of Peter I, domestic brewing was under the strong beer of the West – both Soviet and Russian varieties were brewed according to the recipes of Western brewers. However, there is a truly Russian type of beer that is sold in every store and today everyone can buy. Such a drink, according to him, is kvass.
“Kvass is the same beer. Accordingly, this is a typical Russian variety, which is still very popular and developed in Russia. Kvass is brewed by many factories, ”the specialist said.
He also noticed that modern kvass, sold in large quantities, is closest to the so-called Russian black beer, since classic kvass was prepared using lactic acid fermentation, and today it is made using ordinary yeast.
Earlier it was reported that an American from Ohio withstood 46 Lent, exclusively on beer. In addition to the intoxicating drink, he sometimes drank unsweetened tea, coffee and soda.
