Contact tracing at the end – library has to step in – Salzburg
The corona situation in Salzburg is worsening. Contact tracing no longer works. The city library is now being converted.
The federal states of Salzburg and Upper Austria are hardest hit by the corona pandemic. There are problems with the evaluation of the PCR tests, and on Tuesday a triage team was appointed for the hospitals in Salzburg.
Contact tracing practically impossible
With more than 14,400 new corona infections across Austria, a new annual high was reached on Wednesday, in Salzburg there were just under 1,100 new cases. Contact tracing no longer works.
According to the authorities, it is practically impossible to trace the contacts of the infected, reports “ORF Salzburg”. Now the Salzburg City Library is being converted into a contact tracing office.
In addition to the TriBühne Lehen and the official building at Schwarzstrasse 44, the library will be the third contact tracing location. The 15 employees will then no longer borrow books, but will increasingly document follow-up and contact person follow-up on the phone.
The tracking of contacts in the state capital is already lagging behind for days, the situation is dramatic and threatening, emphasized Astrid Reichl-Marko, the head of the health department in the Salzburg magistrate.
