Badantigate in San Marino, “exemplary sentence for those who fed the monster”
We receive and publish the new intervention by Barbara Bartolini on the “case of caregivers” which broke out years ago in the Republic of San Marino.
“The addressed this issue as a corollary during the first press conference, in June 2018. A former member of the committee, Mr. JPM, now deceased, discovered this phenomenon. Mr. M was, at the time of the facts that are to be told, suffering from a severe disease, for which it often happened that he was hospitalized.
Having had ‘an inkling’ of episodes of prostitution in the ward, he wanted to verify if this abomination had a minimum foundation in reality. One evening around 8 pm an operator approached her and, without turning around too much, revealed to her that the long hospitalization had aroused in him, a still young man, some physiological appetites, and that – where it was possible and achievable – he gladly met a lady for appease them.
The operator, without moving away, went away and returned quickly with a note with a printed telephone number … Around 11 pm the lady arrived … M., with an excuse, refused to consume, however she paid the lady the established fee and the leave of absence.
All this was documented by Mr. M. and the material was quickly delivered (with the greatest possible dismay and utmost embarrassment) to the Investigating Commissioner of the time, Dr. Morsiani. The delivery was made by the President of # Respect & Dignity, Alba Montanari, and by JPM himself, who was able to obtain the documented facts from the Investigator himself. Facts that we also reported in the conference … there is not much more to add …
One would say: ‘… and with this … Curtain!’. I would like to share with you who are reading some reflections … What surprised and struck first Mr. M., then we of the Committee was the attitude of extreme naturalness with which the operator provided the contact of the lady dedicated to prostitution … As if it were a usual, ordinary thing … This is chilling …
One would have expected a range of reactions, from amazement to contempt… Did he say State Hospital or State Lupanare? ‘
But no … The card with the lady’s number! This frightens and makes you think …
In addition to this episode, M. presented others, which occurred both in the wards and in the multi-storey car parks of the hospital. We on the Committee also learned that a couple of ladies were assiduously practicing hospital assistants, albeit afflicted with advanced syphilis.
These contents were also represented to the Health Secretary of the last legislature, who dismissed us in a vulgar and insolent way. Whoever faces the cross-section of prostitution in badantigate (the ‘novel within the novel’ of this shame), faces the edge of the abyss and realizes what abyssal depths the eddy of greed and amorality of those hungry for profit can reach and he stops at nothing, in order to achieve more and more.
It remains only to say that we are confident that not only exemplary penalties will be inflicted on corporal and lieutenant, but also and above all on those who – wearing a uniform and / or occupying sensitive roles within the hospital – every day, every day, for decades, they have given the skin of our frail to the monster.
As I have happened to say in other contests, if the monster has eaten for years, it means that someone opened the doors and filled the large manger every day.
An exemplary compliance should be inflicted on those who fed the monster, paid by us taxpayers ”.
