Works on sports equipment covered in Portugal 2030 – Policy
Portugal 2030 (PT2030), whose ‘draft’ was presented this Monday, will cover “the construction, requalification, modernization and conservation of sports infrastructure”, measures absent from Portugal 2020, as well as seeking to “ensure equitable access to services of general interest”.
Questioned by Lusa, the Ministry of Education listed as “the main measures in the area of sport”, while the minister who has a mass, Tiago Brandão Rodrigues, defined this investment as “fundamental”.
“This decision by the Government, which allows us, from now on, to count on specialized funds in the area of sport, is very relevant, after the difficult journey the sector had to deal with, since in 2014 sport was not included in the Portugal 2020 funds”, noted the government official.
Absent from the 2014-2020 community framework, the PT2030 sets “major strategic objectives for implementation” until 2027, which are included as works in sports venues and also as physical measures of equal access, which also include sport and activity.
The program intends to guarantee “better conditions for the population without access […] to the practice of sports, “to which the entire population must have access, regardless of their socioeconomic status or territory in which they reside”.
School sports will also be included in the “new generation of measures for the recovery of learning” for the education system, without which it is intended to “strengthen the implementation of projects to complement the curriculum”.
This new framework joins that already covered in the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), which already includes measures to “mitigate school dropouts” and promote “educational success”.
The estimated value of support to companies within the scope of Portugal 2030 (PT2030) amounts to six billion euros, said this Tuesday the minister of Planning, Nelson de Souza.
Nelson de Souza, who was speaking at the press conference to present the ‘draft’ of the Portugal 2030 Partnership Agreement, in Lisbon, stated that that amount, added to the five billion euros of the Recovery and Resilience Program (PRR), “doubles “the amount allocated to companies under the previous multi-annual financial framework, PT2020.
The PT2030 partnership agreement proposal, which presents the guidelines for the 2030 Portugal partnership agreement, was approved last Thursday by the Council of Ministers, starting this Tuesday the public consultation process, which will take place during these next two weeks.
The financial envelope within the scope of PT2030 amounts to 23 million euros, distributed among five European funds: European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), with 11.5 billion euros, European Social Fund + (ESF +), with 7, 5 billion euros, Cohesion Fund, with 3.4 billion euros, European Fund for Maritime Affairs, Fisheries and Aquaculture (EMFF) with 0.4 billion euros and Fund for a Fair Transition (FTJ ), with 0.2 billion euros.
