Uri’s roller hockey players create the surprise
At the end of the first half of the season, RHC Uri made an exclamation mark and won against the top team Geneva 5: 4 after extra time.
The home team got off to a good start in front of numerous spectators. The defense around the strong Uri goalkeeper Marc Blöchlinger was good and was only marginally due. In attacking play, the ball circulates similarly through its own ranks. The visiting goalkeeper Sebastian Silva had to intervene again and again. As announced, Uri coach Carlos Sturla built on all eight players this Saturday evening. Unusually for the sport of roller hockey, Sturla changed all the staff with the exception of the goalkeeper after seven minutes. The people of Uri managed to keep the rhythm high, which should pay off in the end. The offensive efforts of the Uri first came to fruition in the 12th minute. David Esteves saw Nicola Imhof standing free on the second post. The latter had no trouble knocking the ball into the mesh to make it 1-0 for his colors.
The hit had a special meaning for Nicola Imhof. After a cheekbone fracture in May, his career is in jeopardy. The game against Geneva was his first appearance since then. With the hit, Uri had woken up the guests. In the 15th and 17th minutes, Geneva responded with two goals from Flavio Silva. With the 1: 2 from Uri’s point of view, it went into the half-time break.
Esteves misses penalty, then he scores the winning goal
From this Uri came elated. After 15 seconds, Uris André Moreira caught the visiting goalkeeper with a heavy shot to equalize. After a negotiation error in the Uri defense, Geneva increased to 3-2 in the 35th minute. Again the home team managed to equalize to 3: 3. This time David Esteves hit the right corner with a forehand shot (42.). The Uri were now the clearly better team.
And yet it was the guests who were able to cheer again first. For once, Geneva combined wonderfully through the Uri defense and scored the 4: 3. Finally, André Moreira compensated with a stroke of genius. At full speed he accelerates the ball first into the air and then volley into the mesh. The jubilation knew hardly any boundaries. Meanwhile, the Geneva fuses have blown. Geneva’s Flavio Silva is carried away with gross unsportsmanlike conduct and threw his stick at a Uri official. There is no other option for the referees than to show him flat red. The lamentation of the guests also led to a blue card. Four seconds before the end, the Uri came after a foul game of the guests to a penalty, but David Esteves missed. So the game went into overtime when the score was 4: 4. There David Esteves made up for what had been neglected. With a wonderful backhand shot he hit the post in the 54th minute to make it 5: 4. With this you secure the Uri two points. Uri coach Carlos Sturla was happy after the game:
«We won against an ambitious team. I am happy that each of us was able to contribute to this victory. ”
