Retirees fromAlencon and their families have largely responded to the seniors’ meals since 478 people gathered at Anova Park, this Sunday, November 14, 2021, for this occasion.
As tradition dictates, the dean and the dean of this meal were particularly honored.

From the top of its 99 years celebrated on October 19, Raymonde Philippe was the oldest of the day.
Eldest of five siblings, she a grandiose in Fresnay-sur-Sarthe where his parents ran a butcher’s shop. She worked alongside them until she was 20 before moving on to Bagnoles-de-l’Orne when she got married in 1942.

31 years at the SNCF
The dean of the day was 94 years old. Pierre Maillard was born on January 15, 1927 in Alencon.
The last of four siblings, he got his certificate of studies at the age of 14 and found a job in a science d’Alençon “where he lost a finger following an accident”.
In 1951, on his 24th birthday, he followed in his father’s footsteps, a mechanic-fitter at the SNCF, to gain the company at the freight transport station. He stayed there for 31 years.
Pierre married Raymonde, Moulinex employee, August 25, 1951. They are the parents of one daughter and the grandparents of two granddaughters.
The trips are their passion: they have notably visited Russia, Turkey, the Balearics, Yugoslavia, Canada and the Canaries.
Pierre Maillard has been retired since January 14, 1982 and devotes himself to reading and cooking “while peeling the vegetables”.
The couple celebrated Golden wedding in 2001 then its diamond wedding in 2011 at the town hall of Alençon.
To the deans of the day, Joaquim Pueyo wished “the best, surrounded by your friends”.
50,800 meals delivered in 2020

Medical desertification
In terms of health, the mayor returned to the creation of liberal and ambulatory health centers (PLSA) to fight against medical desertification suffered by Orne and Alençon “with the retirements of doctors”.

These centers are part of a logic of complementarity with the municipal health center in Courteille.
New hospital: the region makes a financial commitment
The announcement of a new hospital was mentioned to the audience. “For several years, we have been working with the director of the hospital center to create a new hospital. We have put together a solid dossier for this project which, on Monday 8 November, led the Minister of Health to announce a grant of € 73 million for the construction of a hospital ”.
Another “substantial” financial contribution will come from the Normandy Region. “This is wonderful news that I wanted to share with you,” added the mayor.
