Handball – Berlin – Foxes Berlin without a chance in the top game against Magdeburg – Sport
Berlin (dpa / bb) – The Füchse Berlin have lost the top game in the handball Bundesliga. On Saturday, in front of 7200 spectators in the sold-out Max-Schmeling-Halle, the Berlin team lost to arch rivals SC Magdeburg with 29:33 (14:19). For the foxes it was three days after the Flensburg bankruptcy, the second defeat of the season. Nevertheless, they remain in the table behind the Magdeburgers without loss points. The best Berlin thrower was Lasse Andersson with seven goals.
In addition to the injured national players Paul Drux and Fabian Wiede, coach Jaron Siewert also had to do without defense specialist Viran Morros at short notice in the East Derby. His team started nervously, suffered several ball losses right from the start, which Magdeburg immediately punished with quick goals. After the 2-2 draw, the hosts were only one behind.
In the middle of the first half, a couple of saves by keeper Dejan Milosavljev brought the foxes back to 8:10. But it was only a flash in the pan. In the attack, the Berliners continued to find it very difficult. Magdeburg traffic, on the other hand, quickly at will. The deficit grew to six goals before the break (12:18).
After changing sides, the Berliners reared up again, but the error rate was simply too high. In the 39th minute, Nils Lichtlein was injured and had to be carried out of the hall with his face contorted with pain. Magdeburg kept pulling away, after just 44 minutes the gap was double-digit (17:27). The foxes fought to the end, but they couldn’t get any closer than four goals.
