Portugal remains at moderate risk. Most European countries in red
Mainland Portugal and the Azores are for the 5th consecutive week at “moderate risk” on the Covid-19 European risk map, released by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). Madeira is also at the same risk level, but for the second week.
Our country is thus marked in orange in the incidence range of 75-200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants notified within 14 days. And if Spain, France and Italy are in situations similar to the Portuguese one, with some regions even with a lower incidence, the same cannot be said of the rest of Europe.
The overwhelming majority of European countries are marked with the darkest shades on the scale, meaning they have incidence rates above 200 cases per 100 million population, with many regions even recording rates above 500 infections.
These maps from the European agency follow a system of traffic lights on the propagation of covid-19 in the EU, starting with green (favorable situation), passing through orange, red and dark red (a very dangerous situation, in which Portugal has already been in last year )
The maps serve as an aid to Member States on the restrictions to apply to space travel. In June, the EU Council adopts a recommendation for a coordinated approach to travel, proposing that covid-19 vaccinates and recoveries should not be evaluated against restrictive measures such as quarantines or testing.
