Secretary Belluzzi brings his contribution with a speech to the General Policy Debate at UNESCO in Paris on the occasion of the 41st General Conference
The mission to Paris of the Secretary of State for Education and Culture, University and Scientific Research, Youth Policies, Andrea Belluzzi, continues today on the occasion of the 41st General Conference of UNESCO.
Speaking during the General Policy Debate in the morning, in his speech, Secretary Belluzzi reconfirmed the full support of the Republic of San Marino for UNESCO’s role in promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Education 2030 Framework of Action for achieve SDG 4, the priorities identified by the Organization and the values on which it is based. ‘The long road to peace and mutual understanding between peoples’ – said Belluzzi -‘ cannot accept the construction of an effective educational system and the spread of culture. The Republic of San Marino is always very attentive to the issue of intercultural dialogue and believes that education plays a fundamental role in the protection of human rights and in the fight against violent extremisms. ‘
The Republic of San Marino also strongly supports multilateralism. As a small state, the sovereignty of the country is strengthened by participation in the activities of International Organizations, the current global challenges it is necessary to commit to an effort of all in favor of dialogue within international fora. ‘Without dialogue we are and without strength – continued the Secretary of Culture in his speech -‘ the ongoing COVID-19 emergency is emblematic in revealing to the world that it is essential to remain united in the fight against global resources, be they health , as in this case, that of another nature “.
The Republic of San Marino is also very attentive to the issue of the protection of world cultural heritage. ‘We are convinced that UNESCO’s world can strengthen its role as a leader in protecting cultural heritage and in combating illicit trafficking in works. We will support every initiative that goes in this direction ‘, added the head of Culture and Education in San Marino.
” We will commit in the coming months to carry out the ratification of important UNESCO conventions that go in this direction, namely the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, as well as the Framework Convention of the Council of Europe on the value of cultural heritage for society, which are all being studied by the technicians for the next parliamentary ratification. ‘ concluded Belluzzi.
