Thursday 11 November the Storytellers and the “La Pida di Bec” award for the best piada of Santarcangelo
Thursday 11 November is the day of the Fair. After the forced break of 2020, San Martino has returned to “invade” the center of Santarcangelo with its open-air taverns, the exhibitions-market of typical products, crafts and the many initiatives linked to tradition. Among the latter, the National Festival of Storytellers stands out, now in its 52nd edition, the 34th for Santarcangelo: tomorrow (Thursday 11) from 10 to 12 and from 14.30 to 17 in the events space of piazza Ganganelli Lisetta Luchini, storyteller and guitarist will perform of Tuscan folk music, together with Pietrolino Grandi and, subsequently, Wainer Mazza from Mantua, Gianni Molinari from Modena, David Sarnelli with Margherita Valtorta from Bologna. The event is organized in collaboration with Aica, the Italian Association of Storytellers “Lorenzo de Antiquis” and with the magazine “Il Cantastorie On Line”. On the side of gastronomic traditions, however, an event dedicated to piada could not be missing: having to give up the Palio – strictly reserved for non-professional piadinari who try their hand at flour and rolling pin – due to the difficulty in ensuring the necessary distancing, Pro Loco and Fiera have devised an initiative to promote the Santarcangelo piada: “La Pida di Bec”, an award for the best piada produced by the city’s piadinerie. Eight will compete for the coveted prize, which consists of a stamp with which to brand their piade for a year. The jury is composed of five azdore, the award ceremony in the presence of the mayor Alice Parma and the councilor for economic activities Angela Garattoni is scheduled at the end of the Storyteller’s Festival, Thursday 11 November at 5 pm. street food are the real wealth of the Fair, because they give the sign of a hospitable and festive Santarcangelo. The places to eat are numerous and well articulated to grant a safer use: piazza Ganganelli, piazza Gramsci, piazza Marconi, via de Bosis, piazzetta del Lavatoio, piazzale Francolini. The offer is very varied and wide: the queen of the Fair is traditionally the piadina with sausage and onion. Other traditional proposals are passatelli, mushrooms and truffles, rotisserie, grills and soups. But there is no shortage of innovative and delicious proposals, such as food trucks, Apulian specialties and Asian street food. Finally, there will be the traditional barrel, with new wine and the Cagnina, moved to piazza Ganganelli, near the arch where the horns are hung. Overall, including the food vendors, there are about 40 points where you can eat safely throughout the exhibition area. “The return of the Fair is a great emotion for all the people of Santarcangelo”, says the mayor Alice Parma. “Smelling the scent of piada with and onion, new wine and Cagnina in the air, is something that we recently missed last year, with the cancellation of San Martino due to the pandemic. Returning to meet us in the streets, in the squares, discovering the creations and obviously passing under the Horns are just some of the moments we can’t wait to experience. This is why I welcome back to San Martino – concludes the mayor – wishing a good Fair to all Santarcangelo and visitors “. The San Martino Fair 2021 will be able to count on wider and more acquired paths with the suppression of 45 stalls and two safe structures. For visitors, the Covid-19 green certification will be mandatory, which can be requested for random checks by the authorities in charge.
