Directly from what is without a doubt the second toughest group in Sweden, SANDBOX Gaming has locked a place in the Sweden Major playoffs. The Koreans have also qualified for the Six Invitational 2022 through Global Standings.
This clash against Team Vitality was a very important one, especially after the Koreans defeated the French the day before at Kafe (7-3). A win today would not only confirm SANDBOX’s places at SI 2022 and the Major playoffs, but also knock out Team Vitality from the Major playoffs.
Despite superfluous losses against Mexico Major-Champions Team oNe (2-7, 1-7), the Koreans had strong performances against Team Vitality and DarkZero Esports. Their recent victory over the French team and Team oNes victory over the North Americans meant that both the Koreans and the Brazilians made it through the group stage.
SANDBOX dominated their match against Team Vitality from start to finish. When they played in Oregon, the Koreans won five of their six offensive rounds, which gave them a huge advantage before the second half. There, the French side could do nothing to stop their rivals, and crumbled 1-7.3
Duo Kim “EnvyTaylor” Seong-soo and Song “SyAIL” Dong-seon were fundamental to the team’s results with 11 kills and once each.
Before today, only one game had been played in Oregon; Team Empire’s loss to the other Korean team, DWG KIA.
