Rtl today – Luxembourg: What we know about the upcoming Christmas market
The Christmas market will soon make its big comeback in the Luxembourg capital, but what do we really know about this 2021 edition?
After the cancellation of the 2020 edition, the announcement of the return of the Christmas market made a lot of noise in October. And as the date for its opening approaches, details of the event have yet to be released.
Indeed, with a deteriorating epidemiological situation and the new restrictions put in place by the Luxembourg government on November 1, the question of its organization arises.
So let’s start with what we know. The Christmas market takes place in three places: the Knuedler, the Place de la Constitution and the Place de Paris. We also know that an ice rink is being installed on the Kinnekswiss.
Then, we know that a 12-meter tree will be enthroned in the middle of the Place d’Armes and that the festivities will begin on Friday November 19 and that they will end on January 2, 2022.
Regarding times, places or even the program, the City of Luxembourg indicates that everything will be detailed “in proper time”.
According to our sources, it is very likely that the event will be governed by the Covid-Check. A diet that was submitted to the government earlier this month.
The system of separation by zone set up during the “Fun um Glacis” could be taken over by the City of Luxembourg for the occasion.
This means that it will likely be necessary to present a vaccination certificate, a negative (certified) Covid-19 test result or a recovery certificate to access the “catering” part of the Christmas market.
Anyway, we will contact this Thursday. Indeed, the mayor of the capital intends to present the details of the event at a press conference to be held tomorrow.
