The accident took place overnight from Friday to Saturday in Kénitra, near Rabat in Morocco. The family was ending their vacation. Neighbors smelled a strong smell of gas and tried to rescue the victims. The firefighters could not do anything to save the father, aged in his thirties, and his stepmother in his sixties. The two girls from the Fontanelles de Castanet school later succumbed to intoxication. Their mother was rushed to the local hospital emergency room in critical condition.
