A direct connection with Iceland is returning to Prague, the line is launched by Play
The carrier will fly to Prague twice a week with the A321neo.
The Icelandic airline Play will launch a connection between Prague and the island’s direct airport in Keflavík from May next year. After the departure of Czech Airlines from this route, the Czech Republic will again have direct flights to Iceland.
Play announced the launch of the line in a press release, Prague Airport confirmed on its twitter account. Prague is one of the four announced destinations today, the company will start flights to Bologna, Lisbon and Stuttgart.
Tickets are already on sale, the carrier will fly on Thursday to Sunday. Departure from Prague at 21:35 with arrival in Keflavík at 23:50, departure from Iceland at 14:50. Return ticket prices are not yet very interesting compared to the competition from the surrounding airports in Germany or Austria: the cheapest currently costs 257 euros (6475 CZK).
Play is to deploy the Airbus A321neo on the line, so far it has a fleet of three machines and is gradually adding more. The carrier is currently flying to sixteen cities, with expansion to North America expected next year. It wants to use the same model offered by the bankrupt WOW Air airline, which connected Europe and the USA and Canada with a transfer to Iceland. Part of the management at Play previously worked at WOW Air.
The Icelandic company Play started flying in June this year. The three leased A321neo from AerCap attracted a strong red color.
