2-G at Uni: Resistance from students and staff
education
At Salzburg universities there is resistance to the 2.5 and 2 G rule, which has been implemented at many universities because of the number of infections. The ORF
if a letter has been sent to the rectorate, the academic staff and students will be compensated against the tightened measures.
In the statement to the rectorate, students and university staff try to show that a 2.5 or 2 G rule is not useful for the goal of pandemic containment. The initiative is based on various scientific studies. Including a study from the journal nature, which states that already three months after the second vaccination, both protection against infection and external protection have decreased significantly, and this has been the case with all vaccines.
Critics rely on scientific studies
In addition, the initiative is based on the finding of a study in an epidemiology journal, according to which the increased number of deaths from Covid19 infections does not seem to be related to the vaccination rate across the countries.
Initiative calls for PCR tests instead of 2.5 and 2-G
The initiative therefore calls for regular PCR tests to be offered directly at the universities. In addition, it is demanded that the fight against the pandemic should be carried out in compliance with democratic values. With this step, the, as it is said, increasing division outside and within the university should be counteracted objectively and with the necessary emotional distance. With this demand, the initiative hopes that all universities will act according to this model. A signature campaign is in circulation.
