The Congress of State with resolution no.1 of 4 November last, on the basis of the Secretariat of State for Tourism, the Post Office, Cooperation and the Expo, given the untimely death of Dr. Mauro Maiani, appointed Dr. Filippo Francini for the role of Commissioner General for the Dubai 2020 Universal Exposition.
Dr. Filippo Francini, ambassador of San Marino in Brazil and currently Director of the Tourism and Culture Department of the Republic of San Marino, took up his position with immediate effect and on Wednesday, accompanied by Secretary of State Federico Pedini Amati, from staff of the Commissariat and a representative of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Rome, will be a Dubai to meet the staff of the San Marino pavilion and the authorities of the United Arab Emirates who have collaborated with San Marino for the management of the emergency and operations repatriation of the body of the late Mauro Maiani.
Filippo Francini (General Commissioner San Marino Expo 2020): “I am honored with the assignment that has been entrusted to me but I certainly do not take it on with a light heart. Mauro Maiani has done a lot for San Marino in the panorama of the Universal Exposition and I believe that the most correct thing that I can do today is to move in the wake of his commitment. I will be in Dubai to meet the guys from the Pavilion who will be reassured about the continuation of the activity and to manage the problems that obviously have arisen. I will concentrate so that the National Day of San Marino scheduled for next December 10 is up to what Mauro Maiani had in mind and at the same time it can be an opportunity to pay him due homage “.
