At the solemn closing ceremony of the Lithuanian Car Rally Championship, the name of Mažeikiai was also heard – the team withdrew the champions’ prize, and the team members were honored in personal standings.
The championship was finished in Zarasai in October – in the last fifth stage, and its solemn closing, which honored the winners of the season, took place in Vilnius, at the Radisson Hotel.
Vitalijus Plastininas, the team leader of ORLEN Lietuva-Mažeikių ASK, withdrew the prize of the winners of the team championship – after five stages, Panevėžys and Kaunas club overtook Mažeikiai with seven points.
The original prizes, which reminded of the clutch discs of the car, went to the members of our club who triumphed in the personal standings – the first places in their car classes were won by Justas and Titas Simaška and Justas Tamašauskas and Vaidas Šmigelskis. the prize went to the tandem of Vitalijus Plastininas and Artūras Šiminss.
“It simply came to our notice then. For the first time in the rally championship (we used to compete in the rally sprint championship) and won the title of winners by making our debut. We have also achieved another goal of this season – we have returned one of the stages of the car race to the surroundings of Viekšniai, ”V. Plastininas told Santarvei.
