Pyrotechnic depollution operations were at the Francazal site, near Toulouse. Completed on October 29, they resumed on the discovery of two concrete bombs.
No ammunition found
The construction of the medial center of the armies, in the Edme district of the 1st parachute train regiment of Francazal, could not be carried out without demining operations.
These ended on October 29, 2021, and on the discovery of two concrete bombs. ” Composed of inert material and unknown explosive, they therefore do not need destruction, ”adds the prefecture of the Occitanie Region.
No ammunition with explosive material was discovered. Thus, the evacuations of rivers linked to the destruction operations did not take place.
A second area of the project concerning the 1st RTP will also be the subject of a pyrotechnic depollution operation in 2022.
A new building will emerge
The Ministry of the Armed Forces wishes to build a building dedicated to the reception of command and administrative services from the army medical center in Francazal.
A pyrotechnic depollution site was, beforehand, compulsory. An operation that concerned residents of three municipalities namely Toulouse, Cugnaux and Portet-sur-Garonne.
