Christmas is already coming to Toulouse
A month and a half before the end of the year celebrations, the first Christmas decorations are already decorating the streets of Toulouse. The installations began on October 10 and the programming promises to be rich from the end of November.
Santa Claus is unlikely to miss Toulouse. With more than a month before the nativity feasts, the Pink City is already adorned with its first decorations. As every year, the municipality to start the installations around October 10. The Toulouse town hall has chosen to harmonize the colors of the decorations in the city center and in the heart of the districts. The decorations and the trees will be in gold, red and green. “Warm and festive colors that combine modernity and tradition”.
The trees that line the alleys Jean Jaurès are already equipped with illuminations. They will start to sparkle within a few weeks. More than 450 motifs will be installed in the various districts of the city. Ten kilometers of garlands also follow the main avenues. They work with LEDs, which consume less energy than conventional bulbs. In addition, there are six large firs: one ten meters high on the Place Saint-Etienne, five five meters on the Place de la Trinité, Place Jeanne d’Arc, Parvis de Saint-Sernin, Place Saint-Georges and place Dupuy. 22 smaller Christmas trees adorn the various hearts of the city’s neighborhoods.
Events to come
All events will only start at the end of November. Toulouse city hall is organizing, from November 26 to December 26, the 22nd edition of big Christmas village on the Place du Capitole. Around a hundred exhibitors will sell delicacies, decorations, jewelry, clothing, accessories and wellness products. Four chalets will be dedicated to around sixty designers from the region. This year, the market also hosts a 200 square meter ice rink.
An artisanal and solidarity Christmas market is also being set up from December 4 to 19 on the alleys Jules Guesde. It offers original gift ideas, made by local or foreign artisans, in compliance with fair trade standards.
Finally, the great Christmas circus will be set up from November 27 at the Hippodrome de la Cépière. Last year, the event welcomed more than 80,000 spectators. This year, the artists of the Monte-Carlo circus will be present to provide the show.
