Haute-Savoie. A group of travelers invades a car park in Annecy-le-Vieux
This Sunday, November 7 at the beginning of the afternoon, around twenty caravans of a group of travelers entered the parking lot of the Meeting Space in Annecy-le-Vieux.
Alerted of the arrival of the procession of travelers shortly after 1 p.m., gendarmes, municipal police officers and elected officials quickly went there to notify members of the group of the illegal occupation of land belonging to the municipality, located on the Thônes road. The gendarmes of the Annecy-le-Vieux brigade carried out various checks within the group, ordered to leave the premises. Odile Mauris, deputy mayor of Annecy-le-Vieux, and Pierre Geay, deputy mayor in charge of prevention, peace and security of Annecy, attended the formal notice.
Already occupying two thirds of the parking area, the occupants have agreed to vacate the central parts of the parking lot at the request of the authorities. However, travelers will not break camp for several days. An administrative eviction procedure was triggered by summary proceedings by elected officials but travelers usually wait until the last day of the time allowed to get back on the road (and avoid an evacuation by the public force), as he had done on the previous land they had occupied for a month in the heart of the Grand Epagny shopping area.
