Corona: 9,943 new infections on Saturday in Austria
The seven-day average now holds 7,148 infections per day. Another 31 people died of or with Covid-19 within a single day.
359 corona patients in intensive care units
34 more patients have been admitted to Covid wards since Friday. In the meantime, 1,856 corona patients are being treated in the hospitals of this country, and 359 severely ill with Covid-19 are now being treated in the intensive care units. Within a week, 86 Covid-19 patients and patients were added to the intensive care units, since Friday there have been three.

Salzburg with over 1,000 new cases
With 2,791 infections, Upper Austria contributed almost 28 percent of all new cases to the increasingly worrying infection trend in Austria. There were 1,788 new infections in Lower Austria, 1,207 in Styria, 1,121 in Vienna, 1,021 in Salzburg, 795 in Tyrol, 636 in Carinthia, 330 in Vorarlberg and 254 in Burgenland, said the Ministry of the Interior and Health.
New infections in the federal states since yesterday’s report:
- Burgenland: 254

- Upper Austria: 2,791
- Salzburg: 1,021
- Styria: 1,207

- Vorarlberg: 330

From a statistical point of view, an average of 19.6 people died from or with Covid-19 in the past week in Austria. 137 residents were registered in the last seven days. In total, Covid-19 has claimed 11,482 deaths in Austria since the outbreak of the pandemic. Per 100,000 inhabitants, 128.5 people have died from or with Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The seven-day incidence is currently 560.1 cases per 100,000 population. There were 68,016 active cases in Austria on Saturday, 5,357 more than on Friday.
