St. Johann is champion of the Salzburg Regionalliga
A last-minute home win against Saalfelden is not enough to intercept the Pongauers, pursuing Austria Salzburg. Because St. Johann kept his nerve in the 2-0 victory in Grünau. Both climbers celebrate.
After moving into the national western league at the end of the autumn season, St. Johann also secured the championship title in the Salzburg regional league. Stefan Sendlhofer and David Granegger shot the Pongauers to a 2-0 win on Saturday against the Grünauers, who were looked after by ex-trainer Franz Aigner. The fact that pursuers Austria beat Salzburg Saalfelden does not matter. After 18 rounds, St. Johann is in first place with 39 points and one point ahead. “We are already a bit tired after partying last week, but we will surely enjoy tonight”, coach Ernst Lotermoser before eating together in the Innergebirg old town restaurant in Salzburg.
St. Johann asserts itself in Grünau
The Grünauer had missed the first scoring chance of the game. In the course of the first half, however, the guests from St. Johann took over the reins. Stefan Sendlhofer scored in the 27th minute after a cross from the right to make it 1-0. It was also he who could have raised a little later. “In any case, the lead was deserved,” said Lottermoser. The decision Feld late: The hosts missed the chance to equalize and Joker David Granegger completed the subsequent counterattack to make it 2-0 (83rd).
Austria cheered against Saalfelden late
Austria Salzburg achieved a 3-2 win over Saalfelden at the end of an autumn season that was crowned with a move into the western league. The Pinzgauer, the coach Christian Ziege can do without before, were lucky after a few minutes with a crossbar, but were always dangerous afterwards. Captain Tamas Tandari, who had previously narrowly failed the war with a sideways puller, met after half an hour per head for the lead break.
Marco Hödl shot Austria to victory again
Shortly after the break, Marinko Sorda equalized, before Tandari shot to 2: 1 with a long-range shot. After Saalfelden’s Joao Pedro had missed the decision, the home side turned the game around. A joker goal by Din Rahmanovic and a penalty goal by Marco Hödl in stoppage time saved the home win. This and the promotion to the western league were duly celebrated afterwards. Anif, who beat Grödig 1-0, and Kuchl, who defeated the SAK 4-1, could also celebrate.
