Bright Brussels
5 & 6/11 more
The descent towards the darkest days has now finally started, but fortunately the city of Brussels enlightens our minds with Bright Brussels, a light festival with a magical appearance. Until Saturday you can enjoy poetic light artworks that will take you from the Koningswijk through the European district and all the way to the Cinquantenaire Park. Studio Toer’s Firefly Field is a hypnotic light installation that transforms Meeuwssquare into a moving sea full of fireflies. In the Cinquantenaire Park, the Brussels artists Smilansky and Goldschmidt have created a mighty CUBE that reveals its secrets every ten minutes. In the OFF, the masters’ installations are free, and don’t forget to see which Brussels museums open their doors for a nocturne!

until 7/11
Until Sunday we are in the arena to the Dommelhof in Neerpelt, where Theater op de Markt presents a selection of the most impressive dance and circus performances. We already lost our hearts to ‘Sono io?’ From Circus Ronaldo, a moving circus performance about father and son Ronaldo, but also about traditions and innovation. At least as punishment is the acrobatics of Jesse Huygh, a circus artist who treats cystic fibrosis. Yet, together with his circus partner Rocio Garrote and an oxygen device, he climbs the Chinese pole. The performance ‘A 2 mètres’ thus becomes a proof of how powerful a fragile body can be. You have to see it to believe it… and it makes you silent.

Cinema ZED features the youth film ‘How do I become a Viking?’, an adventure film about a boy who becomes friends with a girl from an enemy village. But that is not everything. Before the film starts, you and the guides from Leuven InsideOut first walk through the Leuven, first of all, of the Vikings. Have you heard of the great Battle of the Dyle, where the Vikings were defeated? After the walk there is even time for a drink and afterwards young Viking fans dive into the cinema room well informed.

Will Tura
5/11
For so many kilometers on the clock, a person can only bow his head respectfully: Will Tura, Flanders’ emperor of the Flemish song, is not on stage. Tonight he will do so in the Kursaal in Ostend and he will draw from a richly filled repertoire of 725 songs. Arthur Blanckaert has been on the podium since he was nine years old and he is still doing so more than seventy years later. ‘I’m so lonely without you’, ‘Beautiful, life is beautiful’… With his career band under the expert leadership of Steve Willaert he takes the audience through his. Hats off, close your eyes and enjoy!

Feast of the Book
5 & 6/11 more
In these autumn days, books are our best friends. This weekend the Feast of the Book reaches a high point: you can visit the stores of Standaard Boekhandel all over Flanders for signing sessions, reading moments, workshops and book presentations. Or very special encounters… such as in Bruges, where Bumba (you, the real one!) comes to visit and takes a picture with little readers. Or in Ghent, where Geronimo Stilton comes to talk about his new book. Slightly more mature readers can get acquainted this weekend with journalist Koen Wauters (Leuven), the Planckaert family (Aalst) of Josse De Pauw (Asse), among others.
