Euro report: There are no systemic problems of the rule of law in Bulgaria
The mechanism for monitoring the rule of law of the EC is not rooted, systemic problems of the rule of law in Bulgaria are considered in the analysis of Albena Azmanova, professor of political science at the School of International Studies at the University of Kent / Brussels / and Bethany Howard, researcher , EP, presented today at the National Palace of Culture. The analysis was commissioned by Claire Daly, an MEP from the left-wing GUE / NGL group, BTA reported.
According to analysts, with its reports on the rule of law for 2020 and 2021, the Commission failed to expose the grave and systematic violations committed against the rule of law and thus to strengthen the democratic forces in Bulgaria in their efforts to regain control over country policy. Stating that there has been progress, although the documented evidence of trampling on the rule of law in Bulgaria, despite the fact that this evidence is her hope, the EC is de facto helping to destroy the rule of law in the country, is considered in the analysis. According to him, in two reports, to the detriment of the Bulgarian society, the government enjoys a rather favorable attitude, especially in comparison with the noticeably sharper tone of the criticism of Romania, Poland and Hungary.
Analysts comment that “not only the Bulgarian society suffers from the malicious actions of systemic corruption and bad governance”, they also cross the borders of the country, across the EU. Bulgaria’s responsibility does not belong to the European government, but to the Bulgarian citizens; they must control political policy and force it to comply with fair policy requirements. However, it is extremely important for the EU to assist Bulgarian citizens in their struggle for the rule of law, the study shows.
Political scientist Albena Azmanova commented that the rule of law and the rule of law is an idea that should easily unite political forces. The opposite is happening in Bulgaria, looting the state and suppressing the rights of citizens is the common denominator of politics in almost all of Bulgaria’s modern history, with few exceptions, she said. Bulgaria’s entry into the EU was for many people in the hope that Europe would not protect itself from “bad rulers”, the hope was that European organizations would force the ruling class to adhere to basic ideas such as the rule of law and the rule of law, but this did not happen, Azmanova produces. We analyze the state of the rule of law in Spain, France and Bulgaria, and find that not only are there serious violations of the rule of law, but the EC, although well informed, is silent or omitted in the almost favorable light of elites, she needs.
In this way, the EC becomes complicit in violating the rule of law and in Bulgaria it is especially tragic because it becomes complicit in keeping the state and society from oligarchic interests, the analyst said. There are no major revelations in this report, the facts are known, they explicitly adhere to the information, which is easily accessible to the European institutions and the EC, to point out the fact that these omissions can be avoided, to register the author. According to her, the purpose of the general study and the chapter on Bulgaria is to raise the issue of political responsibility – both the Bulgarian authorities and the EC. As the issue is very simple – the rule of law is not violated when the law is violated, but when the violation of the law remains unclear, Azmanova summed up.
The Minister of Culture in the caretaker cabinet Velislav Minekov, who will take care of the event, commented that it is difficult to talk about the rule of law in us, and we continue to be that forgotten Balkan country, which, although a member of the EU, he remains in the loneliness of his misfortune. According to him, we live in the middle of the oppressed media space and it is difficult to point out the media that can be defined as free.
MEP Claire Daly commented that the committee had failed to address these demands and these systematic violations of the rule of law and had failed to protect human rights. She believes that in Bulgaria the people themselves have called for the inclusion of corruption and the violation of the rule of law. The dynamics have already changed and I already have a message that the people want change, and Bulgarians are also striving for this change, the Daily appeared.
